Happy 2010!!!

With the help of our amazing PCS Parents and Community, we’ve had a great first half of the school year, and we’re gearing up for an exciting follow up!
Thanks to so many generous Pomfret families, we’ve hosted a myriad of teaching artists through our Minds Alive! enrichment series. The PCS students have been treated to programs and teaching artists that both accent the curriculum and present a diverse view of the world. Art Farm’s Circus for a Fragile Planet, Adam Battelstein’s LOCO*Motion, and Crowhill Shane Long’s Eastern Woodland Stories, Music and Dance, each made a big impact on the students, and we are equally excited for our upcoming programs for 2010!
We hope you’ll plan to come to our next meeting on Tuesday, February 8th at 7p.m. in the PCS Library. We’re looking forward to hearing YOUR ideas, and PCS Superintendent, Dr. Richard Packman’s thoughts on the upcoming budget plans. In the meantime, please feel free to contact the PTO on-line by clicking here. We’d love to hear from you!

Next Up in the Minds Alive! Line-Up…
On Wednesday, January 27th, Gwendolyn Quezaire Presutti presents: In Hagar’s Kitchen for grades 6-8
This performance takes place during the eighteenth century in Wethersfield, CT. Hagar, an enslaved woman, is the property of Silas Deane, a merchant from Wethersfield. Hagar illuminates historical moments as she unravels events touching the lives of slaves, native people, indentured servants and the rich slave owners during this Colonial period. Wearing period costume, the actress portrays the live of the enslaved Hagar in Connecticut. The character of Hagar will transport the audience deep into the thread of slavery and colonial America. This program is a characterization of a researched historical individual.
