Connecticut Mastery Testing - Grades 3 - 8

The Connecticut Mastery Test will be administered to all grade 3 - 8 students March 2nd through March 22nd.  Testing will be conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday each week reserving Monday and Friday for make-up testing.  Testing will take place each day fom 9:00 to 10:30.  Therefore, it is most important that students are in the building prior to the testing time.  Students who arrive after 9:00 will not be admitted to the classroom until testing is complete.  Please do not schedule appointments during this time or keep your child out of school unless due to illness.  The State of Connecticut requires that all students be tested unless otherwise stated in an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

The teachers and students have been working hard in preparation for the CMT.  Please remember that the CMT is an assessment that helps us to know each student’s strengths and weaknesses and allows us to adjust instruction.  Children should not worry or stress about the CMT, but should know that it is important that they always try their best.

Please be sure that your child is well rested and eats a good breakfast on the days of testing.  As shared by Mrs. Vandale, a former 4th grade teacher, research shows the children who each cheese or peanut butter before testing receive higher scores than the children who do not.  Some suggestions are peanut butter toast, cheese sticks, Ritz Bitz crackers, cheese or peanut butter.  Remember to have children wash their hands after eating peanut butter products.
