Enrichment Committee

Program Development
It is the PTO’s goal to provide curriculum-based enrichment opportunities to every grade at PCS.  This is done both through whole-school Enrichment Programs, and in-class, hands-on, grade-specific enrichment programs.  Every year, the PTO researches top notch presenters and teaching artists who represent a diverse range of disciplines AND PCS teachers’ input.

Grant Writing
To stretch the dollars that you help us raise, we apply for grants from multiple sources.

Parents as Teachers
From time to time, teachers will contact the PTO in need of help from parents.  If you’d like to give your time to PCS, this is a great way to do it!  Contact PTO Enrichment Coordinator, Jane Hale, to get on the contact list!

If you’d like to find out more about this committee and related volunteer opportunities, please contact the Enrichment Committee Chair.

Cultural Arts Week

The PTO is proud to be a major sponsor of Cultural Arts Week at PCS.  In addition to funding performers from the country being studied, we organize a country specific Marketplace, where students can be immersed in a hands-on experience of the country we are studying!  This year’s country is Bolivia.

Masterpiece Art

A master in her own right, once a month, artist Barbara Hussong dresses up as a famous artist, and gives students in grades 1-4 a lesson about the artist they won’t soon forget!  Each lesson begins with a tour of the artist’s works and style, and finishes with a hands-on project in the style of the artist!  The PTO is honored to fund such an innovative program!  Every grade needs parent volunteers!  Please contact Karen Deluca for scheduling information.
